About Tacoma Dome

The Tacoma Dome is an indoor sports arena that can be seen off Interstate 5 in Tacoma, Washington. It was finished in 1983 and has since become a major local landmark as well as a favorite location to watch sports in the Seattle-Tacoma area. The dome is wooden, which makes it the largest of its kind in the entire world.

Sports events held in the Tacoma Dome include soccer, basketball, wrestling, figure skating, hockey and even bull riding. The arena has also opened its doors for musical acts. Local events like school graduations also take place at the Tacoma Dome. Over its history, the arena has been the home location for six Seattle and Tacoma sports teams. However, it is currently a musical arena more than anything else.

Some of the most memorable moments in the Dome's history include a 35-minute sellout for the rock band AC/DC in 2008 and the Walking With Dinosaurs event, which grossed 2.34 million dollars in 2007. The Tacoma Dome has shows for people of all ages. There are classic rock bands, children's entertainment, world tours, monster trucks and more.

The most striking feature of this arena is its eponymous dome. It is a stark white and stands out among the surrounding city landscape. It is topped by an American flag that can be seen when driving the interstate in either direction. The seating capacity is flexible, so some events may have more seating than others. It can fit anywhere from 5,000 to 23,000 spectators, so events vary in scale. Soccer events seat more than basketball events and musical performances vary in seating capacity. Football events can be held at the stadium, but it can only seat 10,000 for such events, making it impractical.
